Student assistant job on molecular switches
A student assistant job ("studentische or wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft") is available starting in July or August 2016 for interested B.Sc. or M.Sc.students in the context of the Collaborative Research Centre (SFB) 677 "Function by Switching". Tasks include the synthesis of selected molecular switches (e.g. selected multi-azobenzene compounds or azobenzene-polymer systems), the preparation and spectroscopic characterization of samples for ultrafast spectroscopy measurements, and assistance in our ultrafast spectroscopy measurements.
The preparation and spectroscopic investigation by UV/Vis and NMR spectroscopies of functionalized, photo-switchable gold nanoparticles is another task, which could easily be developed into an interesting Bachelor Thesis project.
The successful candidate has successfully completed the B.Sc. courses PC-1 to PC-3 in Physical Chemistry and the B.Sc. lab courses in Organic Synthesis, and is interested and motivated to join our team for a few months in the summer break or for a full semester for a cutting edge undergraduate research project. The number of work hours (max. 40 h/month) and the detailed work schedule are negotiable, the salary reaches up 400 - 450 EUR / month.
Interested candidates should contact Prof. Temps by email or by phone (0431-880-7800).
